Surveillance video shows burglars breaking into Madison cellphone store
MADISON, Wis. — A pair of burglars broke the front windows of a Madison cellphone store early Thursday, police confirmed.
A surveillance video shows what appears to be two women wearing hooded sweatshirts breaking the windows of the Boost Mobile at 1903 S. Park St. at about 4:45 a.m.
One of the store’s owners, Lindsay Hagens, said she’s offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
In the video, the two women are seen using handheld lights to peer at the shelves and cases inside the store. Hagens said iPhones were stolen and money was taken from the cash register.
Madison police said a passerby reported the burglary at about 9:15 a.m.
The sound of the windows breaking and a muffled exchange between the burglars is audible on the recording.
Hagen said another Boost Mobile store she owns on Gammon Road was also burglarized this week. Someone broke into the store at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday and stole iPhones.
Hagen said the value of the items stolen from each store was still being calculated Thursday afternoon; each iPhone is worth $650. Photos from the west side store show glass merchandise displays that were shattered in the crime.
Damage to the stores was estimated between $3,000-$4,000 Thursday.
