Surveillance images help police ID, arrest suspect in downtown robbery
MADISON, Wis. — Surveillance images helped Madison police identify and arrest a man who is believed to have robbed a 39-year-old Montana man last week.
The Montana man said a panhandler took his wallet from his pocket while he was walking to his hotel. The robber pulled on the chain that attached the wallet to the victim’s pants, according to the report.
The robber took the cash from the wallet and proceeded to throw it, according to the report.
The victim and a companion chased the robber but were unable to catch him, according to the report.
Police said surveillance images led them to 49-year-old Kevin A. Thompson. Thompson was arrested in the 100 block of State Street early Saturday morning. He faces tentative charges of robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
