Support for Read Up! Madison Fund means more kids reading this summer

Thank you. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Read Up! Madison Fund and thank you to many others who have taken the time to learn about literacy and the need to make sure all of our children continue on a path to proficient reading skills.
Research shows that includes reading during the summer when school is out, so we are thrilled with the response to the campaign by WISC-TV and the Wisconsin State Journal to support and grow the Read Up! summer sites run by MSCR with the support of United Way and the Madison Public Library.
Five hundred donors — generous businesses and organizations but hundreds of individuals as well — contributed nearly $80,000.
That’s a lot of books for a lot of kids at four sites instead of two.
State Journal editor John Smalley and WISC vice-president Tom Keeler were great leaders, but you’re the ones that really made this work. Thank you.
