Sunday’s Brat Fests Competed With Each Other, Weather

Lousy weather didn’t stop Brat Fest on Sunday.

After day three of the annual festival, organizers reported that 126,000 brats had been sold so far. That means that the festival has sold nearly 3 million brats since it began back in 1983.

Sunday visitors were treated to fireworks that were set off at about 9 p.m.

Brat Fest?s Memorial Day hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Some looking for an alternative to Brat Fest headed to Orton Park Sunday for the appropriately-named “Alt Brat Fest.”

Organizers at the one-day fest insisted that they are not encouraging visitors to boycott the main festival.

Instead, they said they are providing an alternative for people that want to be sure they are eating locally-grown food.

Proceeds from Sunday?s event will go to area charities.
