Sun Prairie voters elect Esser over Clausius for mayor

Sun Prairie voters elected Paul Esser over Bill Clausius for mayor Tuesday.
Esser got 57 percent of the votes.
Esser and Clausius beat out current Sun Prairie Mayor Jonathan Freund to be on the the ballot for mayor in April.
While much more of the world now knows about Freund, thanks to groundhog Jimmy taking a bite out of his ear, Freund got 26 percent of the votes compared to Esser’s 46 percent and Clausius’ 28 percent.
Clausius is a Dane County board member and former Sun Prairie City Council president.
Esser was previously Sun Prairie’s mayor, but said he wants the job again because no one is talking about the city’s long-term economy, diversity and transportation.
