Sun Prairie man cited for suspected 27th driving with suspended permit

A Sun Prairie man is suspected of driving with a suspended permit for a 27th time Monday afternoon, officials said.
Dane County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer said a deputy stopped 37-year-old Calvin M. Henderson on East Washington Avenue in Madison at 1:45 p.m. for suspected equipment violations.
The deputy said a brake light on the vehicle Henderson was driving was not working and that Henderson and his passenger were not wearing seat belts.
Schaffer said Henderson’s Department of Transportation records showed that his instructional permit had expired in 2011 and that he had numerous active suspensions for failure to pay fines, with 26 previous convictions for operating while suspended within the last five years.
Henderson was again cited on suspicion of OWS, along with no seat belt and no insurance. Schaffer said the fine for OWS is $200.50, and there is no mandatory court appearance.
