Sun Prairie blaze guts family home

A Sun Prairie home is considered a “total loss” following a blaze at the home early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from eight different agencies battled the blaze in the 700 block of Kelly Street starting around 7 a.m. That street is north of Main, and south of Windsor in Sun Prairie.

Sun Prairie Fire Chief Tory Strauss said the fire started in a Dumpster outside the home, before spreading to the garage and the rest of the house.

Strauss said two residents and two cats got out of the house safely, and firefighters suffered no injuries battling the blaze.

The fire also caused about $20,000 in damage to a neighbor’s house, officials said.
