Strong opinions accompany Favre’s return to Green Bay
Fans remember former quarterback for championships, betrayal

MADISON, Wis. — The return of Brett Favre to Green Bay sparks strong opinions one way or another.
The former Packer quarterback is remembered by many fans for the championships he helped bring to Green Bay during his 16 years with the team. Other fans still feel the sting and sense of betrayal that Favre brought when he signed with the rival Minnesota Vikings. Still others are bothered by the off-the-field problems Favre experiences.
“I’m glad to see the guy’s number retired here, he deserves it. He put up numbers. He won a Super Bowl here. It wasn’t the best situation though when he left, a little acrimonious,” Packers fan Dane Melby said.
Favre will be inducted into the Packer Hall of Fame during the 45th Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on July 18, 2015. During that ceremony Favre’s No. 4 jersey will be retired by the team. Favre’s name and No. 4 will be unveiled inside Lambeau Field on the north facade during a ceremony at a game during the 2015 season.
There has been concern about how fans will react to Favre’s return to Green Bay following his turbulent departure and series of retirements.
“I hope fans can get beyond it. The reality is he won a Super Bowl for us. So we should be pretty proud that his jersey is going to be retired,” Packers fan Brian Bork said.
