Stranger tries to lure 11-year-old to car outside bus stop

MADISON, Wis — A stranger tried to lure an 11-year-old girl who was waiting at an east Madison bus stop Thursday morning, Madison police said.
A Whitehorse Middle School student told police that a stranger motioned for her to come to his car as she waited for a bus in the 700 block of North Thompson Drive about 8 a.m.
The girl didn’t go to the man; instead she went to the home of friend, according to the report. The friend’s older sibling walked the girl back to the bus stop. The student noticed the stranger’s white car was parked on a nearby street. She then walked to another bus stop and boarded a bus to pass on what had happened to its driver.
The bus driver called police and provided information on the car. The man who motioned to the girl hadn’t been located as of Thursday afternoon, police said.
