Steven Lauritz

Madison-Steven Lauritz, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born October 4, 1940 in Yugoslavia, the son of Thomas and Eva Lauritz. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for over 35 years at the Bayview Foundation, Inc.

He is survived by his children Kelly Whitecotton, Jennifer, Amy, and Lucas Lauritz, Caressa Domingo, and Steven Lauritz Jr. He was the brother of Anna Gammeter, Hilda Moeller, and Joe and Thomas Lauritz. He left behind a wonderful dear friend Sheri Harper, 14 Grandchildren, and his beloved dog Kaycee. He was considered like a father, brother and family by many of his co-workers and residents of the Bayview community, who he worked with since 1977. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Stephanie Lauritz; and son, Anthony Lauritz.

Steve was a strong, caring and compassionate man, deeply committed to the well-being of his family. His family and friends will remember him as a sweet and reserved man, very hard worker, dependable, and a protector of his children. He will be greatly missed, treasured, and forever remembered and loved by his family.

He enjoyed traveling around the U.S., going to the movies, and going dancing with his dear friend Sheri. He also enjoyed watching TV programs like Star Trek, Pawn Stars, American Pickers, sci-fi, history and geography programs.

A memorial service will be held at the Bayview Foundation Community Center at 601 Bayview, Madison, WI on Sunday, March 10 from 1-3 pm.
