State Track and Field takes off in La Crosse

Friday on the UW-La Crosse campus, kids from all over Wisconsin took part in the WIAA State Track and Field championships. 

First, kids from divisions two and three were in action. Edgewood’s Amy Davis stole the show in the 1600 meter run, 4:53.17. It was Davis’ second straight state title. 

For the boys, Tucker Wedig of Belmont made it back-to-back championships, too. He won the division three boys discus title, slinging the discus 164’11.”

Friday evening, it was division one’s turn. For the girls, Monona Grove’s Gabby Beauvais was unstoppable. In the prelims, Beauvais had the fastest time in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, along with the second fastest time in the 100 meter dash. 

For the boys, Madison West’s Olin Hacker repeated as the 1600 meter run champion, finishing in 9:00.86. 

The meet wraps up Saturday in La Crosse.
