State to receive nearly $8 million in federal funds to address opioid epidemic

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin will receive nearly $8 million in federal grant money to address the opioid epidemic in the state, Gov. Scott Walker announced Thursday.
The state will receive $7,636,938 in the first year of what is expected to be a two-year grant, Walker’s office said.
The funds will go toward establishing a hotline providing information about treatment and recovery options, expanding treatment access among the uninsured and underinsured, and supporting community coalitions designed to reduce opioid use among those ages 12-25.
