State patrol: Man seen drinking beer in car, charged with 6th OWI

Trooper initially tried to stop 49-year-old for suspected seat belt violation

State patrol said a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a sixth drunken driving offense Friday.

The Wisconsin State Patrol said in a news release that a trooper attempted a traffic stop of Gerald L. Miller, of Randolph, who was reportedly not wearing his seat belt at about 6:48 p.m. Miller was driving on County Highway A at Howard Road in Dodge County.

Miller did not immediately yield and increased the speed he was traveling, according to the report. The trooper observed Miller drinking a beer.

When Miller finally did stop, the trooper had Miller perform field sobriety tests and arrested him on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Miller’s driver’s license was revoked at the time of the arrest, according to state patrol.
