State agency leaders tour updated corrections facility farm, dairy in Waupun

WAUPUN, Wis. — The leaders of Wisconsin’s Departments of Corrections and Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection got a firsthand look Thursday at the corrections department’s upgraded farm and dairy in Waupun.

The leaders toured the farm’s milking parlor to get a closer look at the facility’s new transition barn and other facility updates. They also learned about the farm’s efforts to improve herd health and milk production.

“We hear a lot that we’re looking for people with skills that are willing to work, so this is one of many examples of ways to have people be prepared for the workforce,” DATCP secretary Randy Romanski said.

DATCP has regularly recognized the corrections department’s agriculture teams for maintaining outstanding milk quality and commendable farm conditions.
