Stage Two of Verona Road construction project begins next week

FITCHBURG, Wis. — Drivers who frequent the Verona Road corridor between Madison, Fitchburg and Verona will start seeing more orange barrels next week.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials said construction on the Verona Road project’s second stage will resume next week and continue through mid-August.
The reconstruction work will occur on:
Verona Road from Fitchrona Road to Williamsburg Way
East Frontage Road between Spoke/Sprocket Drive and Chalet Gardens Road
County Highway PD/McKee Road from the intersection with Fitchrona Road to Commerce Park Drive
Fitchrona Road from King James Way to County Highway PD/McKee Road
Minor traffic shifts will take place on Verona Road from McKee Road to Williamsburg Way and at the McKee Road intersection, DOT officials said.
The reconstruction includes building ramps for the future Verona Road and Williamsburg Way intersections, officials said.
Access to local businesses will remain open, the DOT said.
The project is expected to be completed in fall 2020.
