Shirley A. Miles

Shirley A. Miles, 84, of Platteville, died on Monday, September 4, 2017.

Per Shirley’s personal wishes there will be no formal services. Private family burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Plattevillle at a later date.

The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.

Shirley was born on October 16, 1932 in Platteville the daughter of Edwin and Viola (Wenzel) Risic. She was united in marriage to Verlyn Miles on August 26, 1950 in Platteville. Shirley worked for Benedict Insurance Agency in Platteville as a secretary. For many years, Shirley owned and operated Miles Tax Service, Inc. in Platteville until she retired. She was an avid Packers fan, enjoyed her word searches, and playing Keno.

Shirley is survived by two children Linda Miles and Richard (Janis) Miles all of Platteville; two grandsons Tom Miles of Madison, WI, and Ryan Miles of Platteville; nephew, Curtis Fritz of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Sharon Brinkmann of Oconomowoc, WI; and additional nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister and brother-in-law Darlene (James) Carns.
