Sheriff’s sergeant charged with child porn in Milwaukee County
A Milwaukee County sheriff’s sergeant is accused in a federal complaint of producing child pornography.
According to the complaint, Sgt. Philip Wentzel took photographs of young girls at a campsite he reserved in Campbellsport.
Federal investigators said he shared the photos through an Internet peer-to-peer file-sharing network.
A search warrant executed last year in Denver, Colo., led investigators to images that originated in Wisconsin, according to the complaint.
WISN-TV reported the images included GPS data which led investigators to the campground located in Fond du Lac County.
Authorities connected a camper in the campground, and eventually a cellphone and computer IP addresses, to Wentzel, according to the complaint.
A phone message left for Wentzel was not immediately returned.
