A 52-year-old DeForest man was stabbed Saturday night by his wife after they got into a fight about money when they were drinking, Dane County sheriff’s investigators said.

Deputies responded to 5387 County Road DM in the town of Vienna for reports of a dead person at a residence at 6:49 p.m Saturday. Shortly after deputies arrived, a person of interest was located.
Officials said Irina Shevchuk, 54, is being held on a tentative charge of first-degree intentional homicide for the stabbing death of Vladimir Shevchuk for allegedly stabbing him multiple times.
Dane County officials sent a 911 emergency alert to let citizens in the area know that deputies were searching for a possible homicide suspect because Irina Shevchuk fled the scene, officials said. She was eventually found and taken into custody around 8:30 p.m.
Vladimir Shevchuk was employed as a farm hand on the Blue Star Dairy. He has been in the United States and working since 2002.
