Sheriff: Truck crashes into tree after underage drinking party

A 20-year-old Edgerton man faces a drunken driving charge for crashing his truck after an underage drinking party in Edgerton Thursday night, Dane County sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies responded to reports of a truck vs. tree crash on Jacobus Road in the town of Albion around 12:45 a.m., but when they arrived, no one was in or near the vehicle, officials said.
Investigators said the crash happened after an underage drinking party at a house on Blaine Street.
Daniel P. Fern, the driver, was arrested early Friday morning on a tentative charge of causing injury by operating while intoxicated, according to the release. He was also booked on a felony probation and parole warrant.
A passenger in the truck, Tayler R. Hinchley, 19, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was treated and released from the Edgerton hospital, officials said. She was cited for underage alcohol consumption.
Fern and Hinchley were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, officials said.
Several people came to the scene of the crash while deputies were investigating, which resulted in three people being cited for underage alcohol consumption and open intoxicants, according to the release.
