Sheriff: Sister stabbed brother, went to bed before calling police

Siblings were only 2 people in home at time of incident, overnight, Sauk Co. sheriff says

TOWN OF DELTON, Wis. — The sister of a man who was found dead with a stab wound in the town of Delton on Monday morning was arrested in suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide, according to a release from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to a home on West Fox Hill Road at 11:30 a.m. after a woman called to say that her brother was dead on the living room floor.

Deputies said Donald Simon, 56, of Baraboo, was stabbed once in the upper chest.

Investigators said Donald and his sister, Anne M. Simon, 58, of Baraboo, got involved in a disturbance at 2:30 a.m. Monday. They said Anne stabbed Donald once in the chest, causing him to collapse to the floor.

Anne Simon called police at 11:30 a.m. and reported that Donald was dead on the floor, according to a news release.

Sheriff Chip Meister said Anne Simon went to bed after the suspected stabbing, then later called police when she awoke. Meister also said Tuesday afternoon that investigators didn’t know of a motive for the violence, only that the siblings had fought.

“Upon further investigation and interviews with Ann, it was determined that she had stabbed her brother one time in the chest,” Meister said.

Anne Simon and Donald Simon were the only two people in the house Sunday night, Meister said.

An autopsy is being completed Tuesday.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department Detective Division, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab and Wisconsin State Patrol are currently conducting an investigation.
