Sheriff looks for SUV driver as witness, not suspect in fatal hit-and-run

Officials are asking for the public’s help locating the driver of an SUV who may have witnesses a crash Friday night that killed a driver.
Officials were originally looking for the SUV driver because they believed the vehicle was involved in the crash, but witnesses said the SUV may have been in the area at the time of the crash and was not involved.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call at 9:04 p.m. reporting a multiple vehicle crash in Winfield with people possible pinned. Deputies responded to the scene at County Road H near Drover’s Pass.
The sheriff’s office said the driver and passenger of a pickup truck, driver and passenger of the Toyota and passenger of the Towncar were all taken to Reedsburg Memorial Hospital by Reedsburg Area Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Towncar driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Sauk County Coroner Greg Hahn.
The sheriff’s office said the names of the people involved were not being released Saturday.
Officials are looking for the driver of a white SUV who was going west on County Road H at Drover’s Pass around 9 p.m. Friday.
