Sheriff: Intoxicated driver nearly hits squad car

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. — A 36-year-old Beloit man was arrested early Sunday morning after nearly hitting a Rock County Sheriff’s deputy while driving north of Beloit, the Sheriff’s Office said.
In a news release, officials said Nicholas L. Daniel was driving north on County Highway D near West Finley Road when he nearly struck a deputy who was driving south head on. The deputy stopped Daniel, who failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for fourth offense OWI, officials said.
Daniel also faces a charge of felony threats to a law enforcement officer after threatening to kill the arresting deputy and family members, as well as a citation for operating after revocation, the release said.
Daniel was taken to the Rock County Jail where he was held for court, the release said.
