Semitrailer hits bridge, dislodges concrete
Officials: no one was injured in the Tuesday morning incident

MILWAUKEE — A semitrailer carrying a forklift with a 30-foot boom arm hit the Wisconsin Avenue bridge on U.S. Highway 45 — dislodging concrete that then struck three vehicles.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says no one was injured in the Tuesday morning incident.
Portions of the highway and nearby ramps were closed while inspectors determined if traffic could continue to travel under the bridge safely. Authorities say there was visible damage, and concrete debris littered the highway.
An eastbound lane of Wisconsin Avenue over Highway 45 was closed indefinitely.
The operator of the semi was cited for operating a vehicle without a securely fastened load and operating a vehicle of excess height without a permit.
Authorities checked other bridges that the driver passed under. Those were not damaged.
