Sebelius calls on Walker to accept federal funds

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says she hopes Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will change his mind and agree to accept $10 billion in federal funds to help expand Medicaid.

Sebelius visited a Milwaukee clinic Friday. She talked to people who already signed up for health care through the online federal exchanges or were actively in the process.

Afterward, she told reporters Walker should accept the federal funds, which would come into the state over the next 10 years. She says the money would pay for uncompensated costs that are currently being absorbed by taxpayers and community hospitals.

Walker spokesman Tom Evenson said it’s hard to believe the government’s promise on providing funding when it can’t even manage to run its health care website properly.
