Sears may separate from Lands’ End

Sears to spin off Lands’ End business

Sears Holdings Corp. said it’s considering separating Lands’ End as its own entity.

In a statement Tuesday, Sears said it’s evaluating the separation of the Dodgeville-based apparel retailer as one of several strategies to boost Sears’ financial position.

Sears said separating the business is meant to “allocate capital in a more focused manner.”

If Lands’ End does separate, it would not be structured as a sale in order to benefit shareholders, the company added.

Sears purchased Lands’ End in 2002. Sears Holdings includes Sears and Kmart stores.
