After eight years of calling its Atwood Avenue location home, Next Door Brewing is moving on while Starkweather Brewing Co. is moving in.

According to a message from Next Door’s owners, the brewpub and restaurant is closing and transferring ownership to new brewery, Starkweather Brewing.

“With every journey in life, there comes a crossroad. We as owners, have decided to step aside and let a new chapter begin at our brewpub location,” the statement says.

While the physical location of Next Door is closing, the brand will continue through distribution. The beer will still be available at local stores through bottles and cans throughout Wisconsin.

“While we are prospering like never before, our decision has been made out of a desire to spend more time with our families,” Next Door’s team says.

Next Door’s last day open at the brewpub on Atwood Avenue is Sunday — they are offering discounts while supplies last on draft beer, merchandise and glassware.

Starkweather Brewing Co. will be opening sometime this fall. The team is not planning on doing a major renovation, but plans to rebrand and do some light remodeling, according to a Facebook post.

“Our friends at Next Door Brewing have been killing it in this spot for the last eight years, and we are prepared to work tirelessly to do right by our neighborhood and to keep the good beer and good vibes flowing,” the Facebook post says. “We can’t wait to get started!”
