MADISON -Sarah Capaci Curning, age 96, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. She was born Jan. 24, 1917 in Madison, daughter of Joseph and Leonora (Riolo) Capaci. She attended Franklin school. She worked at the Park Hotel, Manchester’s and the Memorial Union as well as helping her dad with his truck farm. Sarah met John F. Curning Sr., while they were both working at Manchester’s and they married in 1949. She loved her garden, cooking, baking and time spent with family. When it came close to the holidays, she would make her Italian biscotti which she lovingly gave out to friends and family. She was able to make her biscotti one last time this year during the Christmas holiday. She loved her family very much and took care of her husband when he fell ill as well as her mother and her grandchildren when they needed her. She was a sweet caring person that always looked after others.

Sarah is survived by; her two children, Margaret (Timothy) Lourim and John(Pam) Curning; grandchildren, Jessica Kuenzi (James), Erin Lourim (Lindsey Addison), Luecretia Hentz (Todd) and Derland Franklin; great grandchildren, Analise Franklin and Anthony Franklin; niece Jean Arthur(Greg) and their children Katie Arthur and Matt Arthur; her Friday night dinner companion and friend , Lois Statz; and many friends too numerous to mention.

Sarah is preceded in death by; her husband of 38 years, John F. Curning Sr.; parents Joseph and Leonora; sisters Maria, Mary and Josephine; brother, George; brother in law Ernie Hagen and nephew John Hagen.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 30, 2013 with Chaplain Kurt Patrick Presiding. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
