Ruth “Ruthie” Murphy

MADISON-Ruth “Ruthie” Murphy, age 83, longtime resident of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
She was born in July 1928, in Duluth, Minn. Ruthie moved with her family to the Windsor area and later settled in Madison. She was a hardworking, dedicated employee of Oscar Mayer for more than 42 years. Ruthie lived each and every day to the fullest. She was an avid sports fan, cheering for her teams every weekend. Every Saturday in the fall, the kitchen radio was tuned into her Badgers football game. The love of Ruth’s family came first, and she showed it every day of her life.
She will be truly missed by all. Ruth is survived by three children, Ted (Jackie), Tom and Terry (Joe); seven grandchildren, Kelly, Katy, Beau, Mike, Angela, Joseph, and Kim; 10 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Atti, Owen, Rachael, Kamron, Hunter, Hailey, Lilly, Jacob, and Simon; sisters, Gloria (Chuck) and Anita (Vernon); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois; and brother, John.
A Celebration of Ruthie’s Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
Private burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens following the celebration.
