MADISON- Ruth Amelia Dickert, age 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 29, 2013.

She was born in Madison on June 27, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Scherer) Dickert.

She worked at the University of Madison in the Mathematics Department as a secretary. After her retirement from the university, she volunteered at the Red Cross, worked for a lobbyist at the Capitol, and sang with the church choir. Ruth was an avid reader and a great lover of chocolates.

She is survived by her sister, Mary (Richard) Proceus; a sister-in-law, Katherine; cousin, Eileen (Tom) Peel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Joseph and Edward (Beverly).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr., with Msgr. Kenneth Fiedler presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
