Roy Ary

MINONG/SUN PRAIRIE/MADISON-Roy Ary, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at UW Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 9, 1930, in Verona, the son of Rufus and Mamie Ary.

Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1948 until 1952, and in the 101st Airborne receiving the Korean Service Medal. He married Marjorie Armstrong on Feb. 12, 1956. Roy worked as a bus driver for Madison Metro for 18 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement, he and Marge moved to Nancy Lake in Minong. Roy was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong. He enjoyed fishing, building things, yard work, football, hockey, racing and going to the casino.

Roy is survived by his children, Dawn Galbraith of Stoughton, Kris Rogers-Ary of DeForest, Ron (Marilyn) Ary of Sun Prairie; six grandchildren, Jennifer (James Hoffmaster) Ary, Troy Ary, Brett Rogers, Amanda Rogers, Nicole Galbraith and Lance Galbraith; three great-grandchildren, Masyn Knipfer, Addyson Rogers, and Sadie Rogers; special friend, Jeannie Semanko; brothers and sisters, Vernon Ary, Melinda (Darrel) Johnson, Carlee Reed, Lee Ary, and Mary Web; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge; his parents; twin brother, Coy; and other brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, July, 2, 2012, with Pastor Sara Pearson presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens with military rites being conducted. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. We love you and we will miss you.
