MADISON-Rose Marie Albrecht, age 90, died with her family by her side on Friday evening, Sept. 1, 2017, at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Rose was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Milladore, Wis., to Henry J. and Mary E. (Wotruba) Becker. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1945, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Rose married Edward J. Kaja on June 14, 1947; he died in 1968. She married Louis K. Albrecht on July 21, 1979; he died in 2003. Rose married Walter J. Christensen on May 27, 2005. She was a legal secretary and paralegal for many years. Rose owned and operated the Mayflower Motel and Lounge. She was president and co-owner of B&T Mechanical Inc. Rose was a member of a prayer group and an usher at St. Dennis Parish. She was a member of Elks Lodge No. 410 Auxiliary and the Monona Rhythm Band. Rose loved to travel, play cards, sing, golf, and fish. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Rose is survived by her husband of 12 years, Walt; three children, Richard (Barbara) of Lodi, Randall (Robin) of Rockford, Mich., and Rita of Prairie du Sac; daughter-in-law, Mary Kaja of Sun Prairie; step-children, Kurt (Tami) Albrecht of Fort Laramie, Wyo., Jody (Fred) Baumgartner of Elizabeth, Colo., David Christensen of Concord, Calif., Daniel (Gwen) Christensen of Pittsburg, Calif., and Karen (Orrin) Outhouse of Brooklyn; two brothers, Richard (Margie) Becker of Waukesha and Henry (Tillie) Becker Jr of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Kelly (Robert) Bastrup of Burlington, Ricky (Missy) Kaja of Waunakee, Patrick Kaja of Lodi, Benjamin (Jessie) Kaja of Grand Rapids, Mich., Breanne (Justin) Slanger of Rockford Mich., Kyle (Amanda) Kaja of Sun Prairie, and Kristoffer Kaja of Sun Prairie; step-grandchildren, Heather (Justin) Cerbone of Concord, Calif., Ryan Christensen of Concord, Calif., Jennifer (Aric) Anderson of Annadale, Va., Amy Outhouse of Madison, Matthew, Aaron, and Jared Albrecht of Fort Laramie, Wyo., Erick (Kristen) Baumgartner of Fort Collins, Colo., Allison Baumgartner of Loveland Colo.; great-grandchildren, Kaia Slanger, Kenley Slanger, Karsyn Slanger, Charlotte Kaja, Krew Slanger, Nia Kaja, Graham Kaja; and step-great-grandchildren, Robert T. Bastrup, and Gianni and Vincenzo Cerbone; and many nieces and nephews along with many dear lifelong friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David and Patrick Becker; sister, Janice Rasmussen, brother-in-law, Robert Rasmussen; and son, Rod Kaja. A mass of Christian burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd, Madison at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept 6, 2017 with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association in memory of Rose Marie Albrecht.
