Roger O. Rebout

JANESVILLE— Roger O. Rebout, age 72, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. He was born in Janesville on Oct. 1, 1940, the son of Isaac and Charlotte (O’Leary) Rebout. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1959, and attended the University of Wisconsin Agricultural Short Course in 1960 where he started his own music band. Roger married Mary Joan Connell in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on April 28, 1962. He spent his life farming in Rock County. Roger was a member of St. William Catholic Church, where he became Church Parish Council President and Trustee, and served on the new church building steering committee. He served on the Janesville Town Board as Chairman and Supervisor. He was a member of AMPI and served on both the regional and corporate boards. His service also included Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chairman of the National Dairy Board, as well as the Vice Chair of the DMI board. Locally he was on the board of Rock County Dairy Promotion, Rock County Farm Bureau, and the FS Board. Legislatively, his work also included Ag committees for Senator Herb Kohl, Congressman Les Aspin, and Congressman Peter Barca. Roger hosted the FFA Food For America, and opened the farm to school tours, and foreign tour groups to promote the dairy industry. Roger thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Joan Rebout; 5 children: Daniel (Leanne) Rebout of Janesville, Denise Tzivleris of Tarpon Springs, FL, David (Diane) Rebout of Janesville, Doug (Christine) Rebout of Janesville, and Darcy (Chris) McCoy of Evansville; 15 grandchildren: 6 grandsons and 9 granddaughters; 2 great grandchildren, and a third due in March; 4 siblings: Suzanne Parker of Janesville, Rick (Cathy) Rebout of Janesville, Margaret Mary (Marlin) Smith of Janesville, and Mike Rebout of Janesville; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including John Kelm, whom Roger loved like a son. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Ron Parker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. John Auby and Fr. Bill Connell officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
