Roger Miller

STOUGHTON-Roger Miller, age 72, of Stoughton, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, under the care of Agrace HospiceCare.
He was born July 18, 1939, in Freeport, Ill., to parents, Milo and Ruby Miller. After graduating high school, Roger worked on the family farm in Lena, Ill. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Millie (formerly, Mildred “Millie” Bellamy). They both moved to Stoughton in 1965, where Roger worked as a machinist for Dairy Equipment Company for 31 years. While at Dairy Equipment, he played an important role as a Labor Union Representative and was instrumental in the development of their union through the mid 80’s and 90’s.
Upon retirement, he and Millie moved to Texas, bought a new home, and resided at the “Snow-To-Sun” park. In 2005, Roger and Millie moved back to Stoughton to be with family. Roger enjoyed watching his children participate in any event. He loved to coach his children in Little League baseball, and that love continued as he attended as many of his grandchildren’s events as possible. His love for sports, particularly the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and NASCAR, were an important part of his life for many years. Family and friends will miss his smile and his infectious laughter.
Roger is survived by his beloved children, Scott Miller, Marty Miller (Cindy), Michael (Rhonda) Miller, Shane (Miriam) Shultz and Kiley Bellamy; his adored grandchildren, Blake, Samantha, Austin, Riese, Riley, and Chase; and his beloved dachshund, Peaches. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; their daughter, Brenda Lee Miller; brother, Laverne; and parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County Highway B, Stoughton, at 6 p.m., on Monday, July 9, 2012, with Rev. Scott Geister-Jones presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until time of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
While he will be missed dearly, comfort is found in that Roger is now reunited with his beautiful wife, Millie and daughter, Brenda. We love you and miss you dearly.
