Rodney (Sam) Kever

Rodney ‘Sam’ Kever, 64, of Muscoda died Monday, April 23, 2012 as the result of a logging accident. He was born June 28, 1947 the son of Kenneth and Olive (Harms) Kever in Muscoda. Sam served in the US Navy on the USS Mount McKinley as a gunners mate during Vietnam. On August 30, 1991 he married Lynette Speth in Dodgeville. He will be sorely missed by his loving wife and best friend of 21 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and great-grandfather. Sam greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was full of life and comical stories. He was a proud to be a Vietnam Veteran, enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, fishing, and life in general.
Sam is survived by his wife Lynette ‘Bertie’, daughters, Tina (Scott) Oldenburg of Muscoda, Elizabeth (friend Kristi) Wardell of St. Paul, MN, grandchildren, Mark (Danielle) Reeck of Avoca, Casey Oldenburg of Muscoda, KaLee Reeck (special friend Brittanie) of Blue River, brother, Bob (Nancy) Kever of Muscoda, sisters, Miram Dobson of Muscoda, Sheila (Paul) Hendricks of Muscoda, great-grandchildren, Wiley and Allie Reeck, special nieces and nephews, Tammy, Wendy, Angie, Cheryl, Wade, Rick, Kevin, and Kyle, mother-in-law, Margaret Speth of Highland, brother-in-law, Mark Speth of Highland, sister-in-laws, Jennifer (Al) Molzof of Preston, Chris Speth of Highland, great-nieces, and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Kever and Olive Hipenbecker, brother Marty Kever, brother-in-law John Winkowski, father-in-law,Lawrence Speth, and grandparents Mearl and Dora Kever, Frank and Hilda Harms.
He will always be remembered by countless family and friends with a smile.
Friends may call at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be held at the Basswood Cemetery on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM with military graveside rites provided by the Avoca American Legion and VFW.
