Rock County Woman’s Death Under Investigation
Investigators said that they hope an autopsy will reveal how a 46-year-old Janesville woman died on Thursday morning.
Deputies said Rebecca J. Carney was unresponsive when they found her in the driver’s seat of her vehicle just after 6 a.m. on Thursday.
Her vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 14 when it left the road near West Butts Corners Road, and traveled about 1,300 feet before stopping in a farmer’s field, investigators said.
Deputies and emergency responders from Evansville EMS and Madison paramedics responded, and attempted CPR before pronouncing Carney dead at the scene.
The cause of death isn’t yet known, but foul play isn’t suspected, according to investigators.
Carney was the only person in the vehicle, which was not damaged when it left the road, investigators said.
