Roberta A. Crary

Roberta A. (Rutledge) Crary, age 77, of Janesville, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital after a brief illness.

She was known as Bobby Ann and was born in Pecatonica, IL on May 19, 1935, the daughter of Robert F. and Marie (Welsh) Rutledge. She had worked as a special education paraprofessional at Washington and Madison Elementary schools and helped special children at Glen Oaks School (all of Janesville) and Milton High School. Bobby Ann had been a volunteer Laubach tutor helping adults learning to read. She enjoyed collecting Depression glass pieces, sewing clothing for her grandchildren, ceramics, reading, jigsaw puzzles, spending time with grandchildren, and crosswords.

She is survived by her 4 children: Ruth (Jack Redman) Crary of Denton, TX, Therese Crary of Hiawatha, KS, Mary (Lavern) Witek of Janesville and Richard (Sandi) Crary of Madison; 5 grandchildren: James Witek, Lukas Witek, Samantha Witek, Austin Crary and Lace Crary; 3 step grandchildren: Cory, Tyler and James Redman; brother, Thomas (Julie) Rutledge; and sister, Janet (Barry) Stark. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul (Pete) Rutledge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. John Auby officiating. Entombment will be in Milton Lawns Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Memorials in her name can be made to the charity of your choice.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Lilley, Stephanie, Kathy, Dr. Orkfritz, Leanne and Violet, Mom’s professional caretakers. A special thanks to Monte Krebs for being a part of our family.
