Robert L. Barry

OREGON-Robert L. Barry, age 83, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, July 02, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on May 11, 1929, in Madison, the son of Leo and Florance (O’Brien) Barry.

Bob graduated from Oregon High School and after graduation joined the family farm until he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving from 1955 until 1957. He returned to farm the rest of his life. Bob married Doreen Haynes on January 10, 1953 at Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling and going for a drive.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doreen; children, Lynn (Bill) Copeland of Sun Prairie, Tom (Shelley) Barry of Oregon, and Mary Beth (Jerry Schmelzer) Haynes of DeForest; grandchildren, Kristi (Bill) Simonson, Jasmine (Jason) Decorah, Ryan (Jill Fritz) Barry, Ricky (Ame Reed) Adams, Tony (Angela Boshers) Adams, Curtis Barry, and Ian Raisbeck; great-grandchildren, Austin, SaDee, and Jaylyn Decorah, and one on the way; and sisters, Kay Marley of Hawaii, Grace Wholpley of Texas, and FreNe Janne of Baraboo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Raisbeck; parents; sister, Phyllis Gaston; and brothers-in-law, Bud Marley, Ken Gaston, and Michael Janney.

A Memorial Service will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012, with Father Gary Wankerl presiding. Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, on Friday, July 6, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
