Robert Carl Gloede

JANESVILLE— Robert Carl Gloede, 83, of Janesville, WI, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 14, 2012. He was born December 30, 1928 in Waushara County (Coloma), WI to the late Jay and Beatrice (Parks) Gloede. Bob graduated from Denby High in Detroit, Michigan in 1946. He was active in high school basketball. Bob served in the United States Army with the Japanese occupation forces from 1946-1947. He married Carmelita Kelly in 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Janesville. Bob was employed by Beloit Corporation for 39 years as a computer programmer/head of systems. He belonged to Beloit Corp. Quarter Century Club, and was an active member of St. William’s Catholic Church. Bob was a very devoted husband and father and dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed family gatherings, bird watching, card tournaments, puzzles/crosswords and his grandchildren’s activities and sports. He was an avid reader and loved his new desk-top computer. Bob especially enjoyed the cottage at Fish Lake for 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carm; 4 children: Gary (Andy) Gloede, Gail (Dale) Schultz, Renee (Mike) Kuehne, and Kim (Troy) Simonson, all of Janesville; 10 grandchildren: Margo (Walt) Fudge, Corey Gloede, Kyle Schultz, Kris (Jeannie) Schultz, Kara Schultz, Luke Kuehne, Zach (Elizabeth) Kuehne, Jake Kuehne, Cody and Cullin Simonson; 6 great-grandchildren: Jaylen, Isaiah, Elijah, Micah, Kason and Karder. He was preceded in death by his sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be held at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH, 456 N. Arch Street, Janesville, WI from 10-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass celebrating his life, with Father John Auby officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately after burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Janesville, WI. Memorials may be given to St. William’s Catholic Church, Janesville, WI. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY is assisting the family.
