Richland Center man faces felony charge in connection with near-fatal overdose

A Richland Center man faces drug charges after a near fatal overdose last week, officials said.

Harrison E. Schwichtenberg, 25, of Richland Center, was arrested Wednesday and tentatively charged with delivery of a schedule 4 drug, according to a release.

Investigators said a victim bought prescription pills from Schwichtenberg, which led to the near-fatal overdose.

“Because of the danger it presents to the community, combating illegal prescription pill diversion has been, and will continue to be, a priority of the Richland Center Police Department and Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force,” Richland Center Police Chief Lucas Clements said in the release.

When Schwichtenberg was arrested, he was out on bond for a previous arrest for manufacture and delivery of non-narcotics and possession of a controlled substances, officials said.
