Richard J Newman

Richard J Newman , age 84, passed away on July 30, 2017 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie.

He was born in Watertown, Wi on June 29, 1933, to the late Fred and Bernadette (Hady) Newman. He was a US veteran having served in the Army, during the Korean War. Rich later moved to Mineral Point, Wi., where he met his wife, Norma Arndt.

Together they raised 5 children, Mike(Nancy), Mace , Steve (Dona), Thane (Lisa) and Lynn (Michael) Jackson. Rich leaves behind his wife of 61 years, 3 sons, 1 daughter, his brother, Ron (friend Fran); 2 sisters in law, Margaret Roberts, Marilyn (Steve) Eveland; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grand children.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Mace, mother and father in law, Peter and Margaret Arndt, a sister in law, Sandy Newman,two brothers in law, Roger (Red) Griffiths, and Jake Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Oak Street, Prairie du Sac, WI with Pastor Sally Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the St. Aloysius Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service.

Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of Earth. Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree that stands by itself. Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here. Hold on to life even if it easier to let go. Hold on to my hand even when I have gone far from you.
