Richard J. “Dick” Klar, 84, of Highland, Wisconsin, died on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville, where military rites will be accorded by VFW Post #5274 and American Legion Post #42. Father Jim Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the mass at the church. Dick was born on March 30, 1933 in Platteville, son of Cyril and Hazel (Buss) Klar. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army. He worked for many years on the family farm, and helped care of his parents in their later years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but farming was the love of his life.
He is survived by seven siblings, Bob (Shirley) Klar of Highland; Patricia (Myron) Reuter of Lancaster, WI; Jeannie (Jack) Phalen of Lancaster; Judith Klar of Tampa, FL; JoAnne Marshall of Livingston, WI; Bonnie (Roger) Iverson of Livingston; Jim (Joyce Ryan) Klar of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Geri Klar; brother-in-law, Max Klosterman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marilyn Klosterman and brother, Francis Klar.
