Richard Eckhart

Richard Eckhart died on Sunday, August 6, 2017 after an extended illness.
He was born in Fort Atkinson on January 31, 1944 to Lillian (nee Punzel) Morton. On August 31, 1947 he was adopted by Robert and Gracie Eckhart. He attended Fort Atkinson schools through 10th grade and graduated from Ozark Bible Academy in Ozark, AR in 1962.
He enjoyed several driving positions including semis and charter coaches in Las Vegas and Reno, NV. He was the first full time employee for Ryan Ambulance in Madison. Richard was the owner of Bay Property Management in Green Bay and also sold real estate there for several years. He held other positions in the Fort Atkinson area, retiring early due to a job injury. Richard enjoyed camping, concerts, watercraft and photography.
Richard is survived by his adopted son, Nic Millhiser of Green Bay; birth sister, Nancy (Robert) Carlson of Madison; brother, James (Linda) of Jefferson; sister, Patricia (Ray) Hetzel of Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Vickie Eckhart; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his former partner, Tina Millhiser of Green Bay.
Richard is further survived by very special friends, Vickie, Ryan, Matthew and Evan Steinke of Fort Atkinson. He regarded them as family. He is also survived by valued friends, Ray Garlock of Whitewater and Michael Foelker of Jefferson, Mark Rosenau of Madison and his loving ferret, Nina.
Richard was a member of Faith Community Church and the former Open Bible Church since 1946.

Per Richard’s request, there will be no services.
Memorials can be directed to the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
