Richard B. “Rick” Roemer

MADISON – Richard B. “Rick” Roemer, age 65, of Madison, passed away too soon, on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at SSM Health Hospital. He was born on April 1, 1952, in Madison, the son of Richard and Nelda (Dossey) Roemer. Rick graduated from LaFollette High School and UW Platteville. Rick worked as a police officer for the City of Madison Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 2007. He met the love of his life, Susan, in 1982 and had their first date on New Year’s Eve of that year. They were united in marriage on May 9, 1998 at the Little Chapel of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rick was a private man, for whom family came first, including his dog children. His protective nature and kind, gentle spirit made him the hero of the family, especially to his daughter, Andrea “Drew.” Rick is survived by his loving wife, Susan; daughter, Andrea (Mike) Northwood; two grandchildren, Alex Lippman and Jaxon Lucarz; father, Richard; sister, Nancy (Kevin) Judd; several other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nelda; two brothers, Ronald and Mark; and sister, Kathleen. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A private memorial service will be held.
