Residents asked to ‘use discretion’ during manhunt

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to think carefully about what they’re doing outside as they conduct a manhunt for a Janesville man accused of burglarizing a gun shop and sending a manifesto to President Trump.

Deputies said they responded Friday to numerous suspicious person calls, which they believe were the result of heightened concerns because of the manhunt.

One call involved a young person who was dressed in camouflage and carrying an Airsoft/Nerf assault rifle-style toy gun.

“Considering the nature of the threats that law enforcement is responding to in our community today, we would ask for support in utilizing discretion (resident’) choice of recreational activities to help avoid any unnecessary upset or tragedy,” the sheriff’s office said in a release.
