Red Caboose Day Care looks at new policies amidst investigation
East side center has license revoked mid-July following sex abuse allegations

MADISON, Wis. — A day care center on Madison’s east side is establishing new policies in the wake of a sexual abuse investigation.
Red Caboose Day Care Center’s license was revoked in mid-July following allegations that a teenaged volunteer sexually abused at toddler.
On Wednesday the center got its license back, but it will be fined and had its Youngstar rating cut from five to two stars. The day care will also be under close supervision.
Jason Salus, the president of the facility, said there is one policy in particular they will be looking at changing.
“At the center of this incident is a 13-year-old volunteer. I believe looking at that specific policy as to whether or not we allow minor volunteers to continue working at the center will address some of the state’s concerns, and maybe just address some of the center and parents concern,” Salus said.
Salus said they will also be looking at faculty training and other procedures.
The center will be able to resubmit for accreditation in January 2015, when they hope to regain their five-star rating.
