Raymond Joseph Vasquez
Madison — Raymond Joseph Vasquez, age 85, passed away on July 6, 2017, surrounded by loving family. He was married 52 years to the love of his life, Mary Karen Vasquez. Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was awarded medals and honorably discharged on July 14, 1959. He then started a successful career as a graphic artist with the State of Wisconsin. He retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
Raymond was a passionate, loving, strong man. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Mary Karen Vasquez; eight children, Joe (Dawn) Vasquez, Mike Vasquez (Crystal Sadek), Rae Marie Vasquez, Maria Vasquez, Tony (Vicki) Vasquez, Karen Vasquez Homan (Kevin Wilson), Ricardo Vasquez, Bernardo Vasquez; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Raymond’s faith was strong and he always put his family first. “Sleep warm.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Good Shepherd Parish, ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy, Madison, with Msgr. Tom Baxter presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, at Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Road.
