R. Douglas Olsen

MADISON – R. Douglas “Doug” Olsen, age 59, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016.

He was born on May 19, 1956, in Madison, the son of Ronald Dean and Betty Ann (Schroeder) Olsen. Doug married the love of his life, Colleen McCoy, on May 12, 1990, in Racine. He grew up in the Poynette area and graduated from Poynette High School in 1972. Doug worked for the State Department of Administration in the printing department for over 35 years. Doug thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking, sharing what he made with anyone and everyone. He was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, gardening, woodworking, making and giving handmade gifts.

Doug was dedicated in all aspects to his Lord and the Church. Doug is survived by his wife, Colleen; father, Ronald; siblings, Bonnie (Bill) McCrary, Thomas Olsen and Amy (Bob) Kingery; father-in-law, Robert T. (Aldonna) McCoy; mother-in-law, Dora McCoy; brothers-in-law, Robert S. McCoy and David McCoy; sister-in-law, Jeaneen (Kert) Acklam; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; and grandparents.

A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held at CROSSPOINT CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 5011 Commercial Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, with the Rev. Lucas Cole presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
