Quentin Verdier

COLUMBUS—Quentin Verdier, age 70, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Quentin was born on October 13, 1952 to Quentin and Margaret (Wells) Verdier in Montgomery, Maryland.

Quentin enjoyed history including his own family’s; some examples include the fact that his mother was a direct decedent of the founders of Websters Dictionary and the Verdier family were a pioneer family of French fur traders. Quentin was also an entrepreneur; owning various small business including the sale of antiques, which he had a passion for. Quentin also enjoyed his education with bachelor degrees in Zoology, Radiology and Art History.

In 1984 Quentin married Judi Stout (Jones). Their mutual passion for antiques was the beginning of a lifelong endeavor and family business. Together they purchased their home and put their passion to work for them. They opened Antique Shops of Columbus and eventually opened 3 other locations in downtown Columbus. Quentin found that he was particularly drawn to antique lamps and repairing them. Known as the LampSmythe, his unique skills will be missed greatly.

Quentin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judi Stout (Jones) of Columbus; children Anthony (Danielle Eineke) Stout-Verdier of Lake Elmo, MN, Jennifer Knudtson of Fall River and Matthew Feller of Oshkosh; three grandchildren Katherine (Kody Hansen) Haase, Jackson Haase and Coral King; sisters Margaret Verdier of Berkeley, CA and Nanette (Ed) Bloom of Indianapolis, IN; other relatives and friends. Quentin was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
