Prosecutor: Man plundered mom’s retirement fund
Wisconsin man allegedly stole more than $170,000 from his widowed mother
ELIZABETH, N.J. — Prosecutors in New Jersey said a Wisconsin man stole more than $170,000 from his widowed mother’s individual retirement account fund.
Robert Blabolil, who formerly lived in Fanwood, N.J., is charged with theft. The 54-year-old was arrested late last week when he appeared in court as the defendant in an unrelated civil matter, and his bail was set at $75,000 cash.
Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park said the theft occurred over the course of about seven years.
Blabolil’s father left the fund’s assets to his wife, a New Jersey resident, when he died in 2001. But Blabobil eventually gained control over the account and paid himself tens of thousands of dollars in checks.
He allegedly made large deposits in an account controlled by his wife and his own investment account.
