Poynette High School teacher put on administrative leave after incident with student

POYNETTE, Wis. — A teacher with the School District of Poynette has been placed on administrative leave Tuesday following an incident with a student.
The district made the announcement on its Facebook page Tuesday night.
District Administrator Matthew Shappell said the district has begun an investigation into the incident. The teacher’s name has not been released at this time.
The district also contacted the student’s parents and is “taking steps to provide the appropriate support for the student involved.”
A video shared with News 3 Now claiming to have been filmed at Poynette High School showed a teacher yelling at a student and saying the teen could still spread COVID-19 even though he was vaccinated. The teacher can be heard calling the student a “dink,” “jerk” and “dummy” throughout the video.
“You’re not a special person around here. You should hear about how everyone talks about you around here, you’re a jerk,” the teacher told the student.
The district has not yet confirmed whether the video was of the same incident.
